Lower Extremity Edema Management
March 1, 2009
This course is designed as an introductory level course in the management and treatment of lower extremity edema. Focus will be on developing a strong foundation of knowledge in the practice of edema management.
Successful evaluation and treatment of lower extremity edema requires a clinician to fully integrate the understanding of anatomy, common pathologies, anticipated precautions, and environmental factors. Included in this two day workshop we will cover topics such as chronic venous insufficiency, edema vs. lymphaedema, comprehensive lower leg assessment, treating the 'complicated' leg, uses and precautions of compression therapy. A lab component will be included to further develop a foundation and practice skills to prepare you for your clinical practice.
Coffee and lunch breaks will be incorporated, as snacks and refreshments will be provided during the day. Please note that participants are expected to arrange their own lunch for the two day workshop.
